My name is Ashley McFadyen, a recent graduate from Maidstone, Saskatchewan. I had the pleasure of meeting Bob when he came to speak at a Northwest Leadership Academy meeting. I became inspired by his idea of creating charters when working with a group of people. I chose to create a charter for school’s Student’s Against Drinking and Driving scholarship application. The funds I received from this scholarship will aid in the expenses associated with attending post-secondary. It is structured from the detailed directions within Bob’s book on enhancing leadership. My charter includes promises that members must make in order to be part of the group. This holds people accountable for making dangerous decisions such as drinking or texting while driving. I feel a strong sense of pride leaving behind a document that will be signed by all members. I know that the charter further strengthens the Maidstone High School’s SADD chapter that contains dedicated advisors and members.
